Open Video Joiner not only merges any MPEG, AVI, WMV or ASF file, but also encodes them into a single AVI file, regardless of the different formats, frame rates, and frame sizes of the videos to be joined. It may use a DivX, XviD or WMA codec to perform the conversion. The output file is completely customizable, and allows you to choose from an extensive list of built-in transitions.
Especially prepared to work with the DivX codec–which needs to be downloaded and installed separately–Open Video Joiner is mainly an encoder, rather than the average video file merger. It does join video files, but forces the output to be an AVI file. This has its advantages, but also its drawbacks. You will not need to convert your files to AVI separately before joining them–just put them in the order of your choice and Open Video Joiner will create a nice AVI file for you. However, if you have two MPEG files to join, the result will never be a bigger MPEG video file, but an AVI file containing both MPEG files re-encoded.
Before merging the files, you can decide on the frame rate, the resolution, the frame size, the audio compression (if any), and the video compressor to be used to render the AVI file. And as a bonus, it includes a wide range of creative transitions that will appear in between files, if desired. These can be previewed for a few seconds to help you make your final choice, using Windows Media Player. more
